Volvo has introduced many varieties of models since 1920s. Volvo has about 2500 dealerships around the world. Since 1944, Volvo cars has the reputation for safety and it has used laminated glass for its early models. Its main aim is to provide safety to the passengers by introducing safety cage and crumple zone concepts for its car in 1950 and now they have made it as a standard in cars and who feels the responsibility for saving thousands and millions of lives.
Volvo is one of the first company to introduce padded bashboards around 1950s and also developed rear-facing child seats, high-mounted stoplight, seatbelts. In late 1980s they have introduced 960 model which has three-point seatbelt for the middle of the rear seat as well child safety chusion which is combined with the middle armrest. In early 1990s they have introduced Side Impact Protection System (SIPS) which especially designed to prevent the side impact from the doors. In late 1990s Volvo group introduced a Whiplash Protection System((WHIPS) which is used to prevent front seat injuries during collisions. In 2004 Volvo introduced BLIS which has all new features added and it alerts the driver with the warning light using the side mirror mounted sensor which has made it successful in the automative industry.
