eclipse << Mitsubishi << Review |
| Mitsubishi Eclipse of Third generation has live through a change into
its current generation in 1999.The two powertrain options, a 150hp 2.41 16 valve SOHC 4-cylinder(4G64) and a 205hp 24v SOHC 3.01 V-6(6G72,AWD
was no longer an option) have been replaced by 4G63. To provide
a softer and more complaint ride quality, suspension set was adjusted.
As a result more scrappy character of the previous generation's
are disappeared. With 8th generation Galant, Mitsubishi Eclipse
shared its platform and powertrain, so it was no longer considered to be a DSM.
- Its weight was also up slightly from the previous year's model.
- Weight in the front and V-6 better torque response allowed for very similar acceleration numbers.
- Because of its lower price, tuning community has seen increased interest on 3G Eclipse over the release of 4G Eclipse
- Shaping is quite similar to its predecessors and this is the legacy
of this vehicle.
- After the car has been out of the production, its performance potential has only be realized.
