The name Mini has come from Latin which means "small" which is produced by British Motor Corporation(BMC) in the year 1959 and now name is replaced with "New Mini" which was launched in 2001. Mini cars were designed by Sir Alec Issigonis for BMC which is a revolutionary and distinctive small car. Mini car was first manufactured in United Kingdom. The first Mini Cooper manufactured with the name MK I later on it has few updates and with the name MK II, the clubman and the MK III, on with there are many variations which includes estate car, picku truck and jeep which would be like buggy and even they are successful in manufacturing sportier version car Mini Cooper and Mini Cooper "S" which has won three times in Monte Carlo Rally.
The original prototype which was designed as project ADO15 (Austin Drawing Office project number 15) was named as The Orange Box because of its colour. Since 1970s they are developing all small front wheel drive cars. This ADO15 utiliseed BMC A-series four cylinder water-cooled engine and with many more features. Later on they have added some more features and was lunched in 1962. Finally, the production model differed from the original prototype by the addition of many new features which has reduced the loads on the gearbox and also prevented the rapid wear on the synchromesh.

The Mini Van which is especially built for longer traveller chassis some people call it as commercial van and which is without side-windows.
The Mini Pick-up which is also built on the long traveller but with truck derivative and with flat-bed and also with tail-gate.
