Land rover discovery was introduced in 1980's and became the popular model of Landrover.This is a comfort 4*4 vechile form Ford's Land Rover marque.
Based ont he part of orginial rangerover The discovery has introduced in 1989 at United Kingdom.At the beginning the company code-named the vechiled as "project jay"and eventually leading to the Land Rover name becoming detached from any specific model.
Initially the discovery was available with in a three door version and now at the present only 5 door models are available.Early V8s used a twin carburettor system, moving over to Lucas fuel injection in 1990.In 1994 many changes are made in discovery the 200TDi and 3.5L V8 engines were replaced with the 2.5L 300TDi and 3.9L Rover V8 engines.1994 also marked the first year that the Discovery was sold in the United States.In Japan, a badge-engineered version of the Series I was offered, called the Honda Crossroad.
In 1998 every body panel was new (and incompatible) except the rear door outer skin.the rear door was extended to improve the load space.Self-levelling air springs were fitted to some models and European type-approval for 7-seat vehicles was only given for air-sprung cars. In the year 2000 land Rover manufactured a car is an entirely new design, sharing not a single component with the outgoing model. Its styling is still traditional Land Rover, with function dictating the look, rather than fashion, and with lots of horizontal and vertical lines. It retains the key features of the Discovery.
In 2006 Land Rover will use the Discovery 3 in its G4 Challenge, alongside the Range Rover Sport. The vehicles used are all in standard mechanical form, and are fitted with equipment from the standard Land Rover brochures.
