Jeeps was initially used like a slang for tractor which are used for carrying of heavy equipments. After the completion of first jeeps model it was taken out for testing though there was no name assigned till that time. The soldiers present in that camp termed this project as Jeep but the engineers thought the word was familiar with Eugene the Jeep character and hence they credited that character. These jeeps were built mostly for the American army which includes the first Bantam BRC and followed by two prototypes by Willy-overland and Ford. It was the first company which had successfully fulfilled the extentive creteria given by the american army with its technical know-how and hard work.
