Information on Porsche Cars
The development potential of Porsche did not start with the first Porsche sports car in 1948. It goes back to the beginning
of the 20th century when Professor Ferdinand Porsche senior (the automobile was still a teenager) presented his first
designs and constructions. Ferdinand and Ferry Porsche had visions but they always kept their feet firmly on the ground.
That is how they made imagination and reliability a reality. Decades of stability are an invaluable asset of the company.
If the name of Porsche carries a commitment, so do the values it embodies. Above all the company believes commitment as
being spiritual mobility.
It is a heritage in keeping with the times; one which Porsche and its staff must live up to every
day. A company like Porsche has to keep one eye on the future at all times. The company thinks and plans with one
thought uppermost in its mind: Back to the future. Our vehicles do not just stand for performance capability; they are also
the symbol of an experience-orientated company. Visually and technically sound sports cars and all-terrain vehicles form the
core of the versatile Porsche model range. All vehicles are as impressive inside as they are outside. Synonyms for the idea
that Prof. Porsche wanted to realise ? namely to found a (until then) unique ultramodern service company, which would supply
its extensive knowledge to the motor industry.
The Weissach Development Centre, which was established in 1972 by Ferry Porsche,
the son of the company founder and creator of the vehicles bearing the family name, is the logical progression of that
design office ? albeit using different tools and in different dimensions. New ideas are continually being born at Porsche.
About 3000 globally valid patents are administrated in the research and development center at Weissach - and new, additional
ideas come along every year. Innovations in sports car construction and notable Porsche developments always have a decisive
effect on the automobile industry - and also on other branches.Innovations and the marketing of property rights have long
been a tradition at Porsche - a tradition going back to 1931 which saw the opening of Prof. Ferdinand Porsche's engineering
office.
