All about Lotus Car
Lotus Cars are based in East Anglia and by the influential engineer
Colin Chapman, Lotus Cars was formed as Lotus Engineering Ltd. in 1952.
From 1958 to 1994, Lotus
Cars was active and competitive in Formula One Racing.
The Company's first factory was in old stables behind the Railway Hotel
in Hornsea. At Hethel, near Norwich the company has occupied a modern factory
and road test facility, since 1960.
In 1982 Chapman died of a
heart attack, at the age of 54, winning the
Formula One World Championship seven times
and building tens of thousands of successful racing and road cars.
The company was bought by General Motors in 1986. GM sold the company
to A.C.B.N on August 27, 1993. The company itself entered Formula One
as a team in 1958and encouraged its customers to race its cars.
Stirling Moss won the first Grand Prix for the marque in 1960 by driving
Lotus Formula One Car. Lotus
won its first F1 World Championship
in 1963. The Formula One driver's world championships are as follows

Current Models of Lotus:
Lotus Elise - Many Innovations, such as an
aluminium extrusion frame and a composite body shell are incorporated by
the Elise.With Toyota engine, Elise was recently introduced into the US.
in order to pass strict U.S. emissions laws.Several racing variants has been spawned
by Elise, including an exotic limited series called the 340R.
Lotus Exige - The Exige is street
legal and has been released for the price of $50,000.It provides more
rigidity and with additional modifications to provide more downforce.
Lotus Europa S - To
complement the simplicity of the Lotus Elise and Exige models,
Lotus Europa provides drivers with higher levels of practicality
and refinement.Through light weight it follows the core Lotus
Philosophy of performance, obtained through
the clever use of advanced and high-technology materials.
Adding wings to Formula 1 cars to add downforce,
as well as moving radiators to the sides in F1 cars to aid in
aerodynamic performance, and inventing active suspension was done
by Lotus Cars first.
